First References

July 31st, 2007

Delivering on its “Giving Value” commitment, CompriseIT has completed its first consulting engagements and has received great feedback from these first customers.

These are the first of many such engagements which are characterised by a unique balance of thought leadership in Enterprise SOA and a pragmatic delivery focus.

CompriseIT has a range of SAP centric services which cover Enterprise SOA education, skills development, target architecture development and solution design.

SAP and .net Technology Assessment

June 28th, 2007

CompriseIT has completed a Technology Assessment between SAP NetWeaver and Microsoft .net for one of our clients.

It is common for companies to have a dual strategy between SAP and Microsoft as the two companies have a close relationship at board level. With the advent of the Duet product and the development of inter-Op standards it can be confusing to understand which technology should be used where.

CompriseIT have developed a scoring matrix and overlapping analysis that enables organisations to look across their technology landscape, identify the overlaps and quickly evaluate the product or products to use.

CompriseIT Launch Enterprise SOA Training

June 28th, 2007

CompriseIT has developed and delivered a set of training modules that are designed for delegates who know little or nothing about Enterprise SOA and SAP NetWeaver. It helps to answer questions like.

  • Why is SOA needed
  • What is SAP Enterprise SOA
  • Which SAP NetWeaver components are required to make Enterprise SOA happen
  • How to find more information on Enterprise SOA

The course also includes a case study that is used in exercises to show how Enterprise SOA and SAP NetWeaver can be used to solve business issues. Delegates are shown how to :-

  • Create SAP NetWeaver Roadmaps
  • Create Enterprise SOA Roadmaps for specific process issues
  • Create Composite Application specifications

The course is modular and can be delivered in between 0.5 and 2 days (usually 1 day). It is designed for SAP Project Teams, SAP Support Teams, SAP Consultants and SAP Program / Project Managers.

Development Tools

May 23rd, 2007

The number of ways that it is possible to build additions to your SAP system have increased over the past couple of years as the NetWeaver platform has matured. As well as the traditional tools like ABAP and BAPI’s a new breed of tools is available like Guided Procedures and Visual Composer.

To try to help you understand the various tools, CompriseIT have created a Quick Reference Guide together with usage guidelines. You can find the guide here.

Hasso’s New Idea and SAPPHIRE in Brief

May 23rd, 2007

At the Atlanta SAPPHIRE Hasso Plattner talked about the next generation of Enterprise Software and what it could/would do in the future. I recommend you take a look at it here.

Some of these ideas are possible today using Enterprise SOA by Evolution, some need Enterprise SOA to have been designed in and some need the adoption of web 2.0 into the workplace. Anyhow what is clear is that the requirements to have a clear SAP Strategy and roadmap is greater than ever.

The Vienna SAPPHIRE did not have the same presentation, but Henning talked about how A1S (A new code base from SAP) and how this would / could co-exist with the existing platform showing new components available in 2009.
Lots of talk about the new Composition Environment which will make it easier for people to use the development and modeling tools available from SAP. To prove this SAP had a number of customers talking about the Enterprise Services Bundles that they had implemented as Composite Applications.
All in all the message was simple :-

  1. SAP have delivered against its ESA Roadmap and will have service enabled the Business Suite by the end of 2007
  2. Creating new functionality built on top of these Enterprise Services is being backed by SAP
  3. New software components with increased flexibility will be hitting the streets in 2009/10
